Pierce City’s newest fire truck is in jeopardy because of the May tornadoes. The city has no sales tax revenue left, and that’s going to make it hard to make the $23,000 payment on the truck next year. The city has most of the money for this year’s payment. Fund-raising events held by fire departments in other towns have raised more than $14,000. $3,000 will finish this year’s payment. The truck needs about $17,000 worth of repairs becuase of storm damage – but insurance should pay for that. The truck was bought two years ago with bonds backed by sales taxes. But Pierce City has no business district anymore because of the tornado May 4th … and no sales taxes.
