A coalition of Missouri retailers is hosting “We Card” training sessions throughout the state over the next week to educate retail employees how to prevent tobacco sales to minors. Most people who have walked to the counter of a store that sells tobacco products have seen the “We Card” signs, making it clear the person behind the counter is intent on making sure the purchaser is at least 18-years-old. A series of two-hour long “We Card” seminars has begun, with stops planned in 13 Missouri cities through Thursday of next week. “We Card’s” Amanda Teer says the sessions teach retailers and clerks how to observe the law. The sessions will also teach employees how to deal with situations in which minors are trying to buy cigarettes. For dates and locations of the sessions, log onto www.WeCard.org.
