After finding out he had been selected to his first All-Star Game, Woody Williams celebrated by pitching 7 2/3 strong innings as the Cardinals beat the Cubs 4-1 on Sunday. Williams is now 11-3 on the season after yesterday’s win. Eduardo Perez provided all the offense Williams would need. Perez smacked a three-run homer in the second inning, his fifth home run of the season. Jim Edmonds added an RBI single for the Redbirds. The Cardinals now lead both Chicago and Houston by two games in the National League Central Division. The Cards open a two-game series in San Francisco tonight.
