Royals Extend Lead In Central

July 4, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

The Royals extended their lead to 2.5 games in the A.L. Central with Thursday night’s 3-2 win over Detroit. Kansas City rallied from a 2-0 deficit. Michael Tucker’s solo home run highlighted a two-run fifth inning. Ken Harvey drove in the game-winning run in the sixth as the Royals won their third straight game. Jeremy Affeldt (5-4) picked up the victory, giving the Tigers just two runs on five hits in seven innings of work. The Royals and Tigers continue their four-game weekend series tonight at Kaufmann Stadium. Nate Cornejo (3-6) will oppose Chris George (9-5).
