The National League’s best offense has taken a vacation, or so it seems. For the third straight game the Cardinals were held to one run in a 4-1 loss to the Giants. Barry Bonds provided two of San Francisco’s five hits with solo home runs. Garrett Stephenson went seven innings allowing three runs off two hits and absorbed the loss, dropping to 4-8. Jason Isringhausen gave up the second of Bond’s two homers. It was the first round-tripper allowed by Isringhausen since 2001. With the loss, the Cardinals moved into a three-way tie with the Cubs and Astros for the lead in the National League Central.
