Aurora Foods To File For Bankruptcy Protection

July 3, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

The Maryland Heights that owns such familiar brand names as Log Cabin syrup, Lender’s bagels, and Duncan Hines baking mixes is ready to file for bankruptcy protection. But Aurora Foods Inforporated says it already has a restructuring plan. As soon as it’s in place, Aurora will sell almost two-thirds of its stock to an investment firm in Boston. J.W. Childs will buy controlling interest in Aurora for $200-Million. Aurora has been hoping to avoid bankruptcy by selling some of its other brand names – Mrs. Paul’s and Van De Kamp seafood, Aunt Jemima breakfast products, and Celeste pizza among them. J.W. Childs already owns Meow Mix and Alley Cat pet foods, and has a piece of NutraSweet and Bass Pro Shops.
