Seven members of the Southwest Missouri State baseball team were taken in this years Major League Baseball draft. All seven have signed. The last was right-handed pitcher Bob Zimmerman who agreed to a deal with the Angels this week. Three of the players, including Zimmerman, were juniors. The other underclassmen were junior pitchers Shaun Marcum and Chad Mulholland who were both taken by the Blue Jays. The drafted seniors included outfielder Dant’e Brinkley and catcher Tony Piazza who went to the Mets, senior pitcher Brad Ziegler was taken by the Phillies and outfielder Greg Mathis went to the Diamondbacks.
