Holden Announces Spending Freeze

July 2, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

Governor Bob Holden has announced he is withholding more than $250-Million in state spending – most of it from public schools. Schools stand to lose $197-Million – an 8 percent cut. Higher education will lose $25-Million – 3-percent less than what the Legislature had appropriated. Holden had said repeatedly that he would have to make additional cuts and withholdings unless the Legislature approved his request for more revenues.
