The Cardinals were stopped by the Giants 5-1. Woody Williams gave up all five San Francisco runs in the first inning and got the loss, dropping to 10-3. Meanwhile John Brower held the Cards to five hits over seven innings. Albert Pujols was held hitless for the second straight game which is becoming a rather unusual occurance. He’s gone two games without a hit only one other time in 2003. He’s hitting .381. Tino Martinez accounted for the Cardinals only RBI of the night when he singled to right in the second inning. That was the final run of the game. The loss moved St. Louis into a tie with Houston for first place in the National League Central.
