The Royals two-game slide doubled in a matter of hours. They fell to the Indians 10-5 and 8-5 in a double header at Kauffman Stadium. In the first game, Cleveland jumped on Brad Voyles, scoring four runs off eight hits. The Indians eventually had a 5-0 lead before Michael Tucker and Morgan Burkhart drove in runs in the seventh inning. Cleveland responded with five more runs in the eighth inning to put it away. Voyles got the loss in his first start. Cliff Lee got the win in his first start. In game two, the Royals held a 5-4 lead but fell victim to yet another big inning in an 8-5 loss. Reliever Les Warlond allowed four runs in the fifth inning and was tagged with the loss. No runs were scored the rest of the way. The Royals have a four-game losing streak but still find themselves just a half game out of first place in the American League Central, behind the Twins. The Royals may be interested in making a trade for Roberto Alomar. The Kansas City Star reported this morning that Kansas City, along with the White Sox and Expos, might want to make a deal for the 12-time All Star. He’s in the final year of a five-year contract with the Mets.
