Woody Williams got a little help from his friends. The Cardinals starting pitcher allowed seven runs and ten hits but still got his 10th win of the season as the Cardinals topped the Reds 11-7. St. Louis exploded for seven runs in the second inning thanks in large part to Tino Martinez and Jim Edmonds who both launched three-run homers off Jimmy Anderson. Edmonds finished the night with four RBI’s. Other offensive notables included Albert Pujols, who raised his average to .394 and Bo Hart who was 3-5 and upped his mark to .514. With the win, the Cardinals moved into a first-place tie with the Cubs in the N.L. Central. They lead the Astros by a half game.
