Royals In Top Spot Again

June 25, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

The Royals regained a share of the lead in the A.L. Central by beating the Indians 3-1 in Cleveland. Chris George got in and out of jams to earn his ninth win. George pitched into the sixth inning, giving up seven hits and three walks. Mike MacDougal took George’s lead when he entered the game in the ninth inning. The Royals closer allowed two hits before settling down and getting his 17th save of the season. Angel Berroa, Aaron Guiel and Mike DiFelice drove in the Royals’ three runs. Guiel’s sacrifice fly in the sixth inning proved to be the game-winner. The Twins fell to the White Sox 2-1 to allow the Royals to join them atop the A.L. Central standings.
