The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, meeting in St. Louis, has seen attendees spend a day in prayer and reflection about the state of the church and their role in it. Bishops had asked for the session which was, in part, a response to the sexual abuse crisis that has rocked the Catholic Church. Bishops say they need to spend more time helping each other care for their own spiritual roles. As the bishops met at the Hyatt-Regency at Union Station, members of the group SNAP – Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests – held a rally across the street, accusing bishops of not living up to the commitments to fight sex abuse.
