Two more Southwest Missouri State Bears have signed contracts to play baseball for a living. On Tuesday, pitcher Brad Ziegler became the first of the year when he inked a deal with the Phillies. He was taken by the Phillies in the 20th round of the draft. Yesterday, catcher Tony Piazza and outfielder Greg Mathis followed suit. Piazza signed with the Mets, who chose him in the 12th round and Mathis came to terms with the Diamondbacks who took him in the 30th round. All three players are seniors. Fellow senior Dant’e Brinkley hasn’t signed after being selected by the Mets in round 23. None of the juniors, Bob Zimmerman, Chad Mulholland and Shaun Marcum have signed either.
