The hit parade continued between the Royals and Twins on Wednesday, and for the third time in as many nights, Kansas City came out on top. Carlos Beltran was 3-4 with two RBI’s and two runs as the Royals topped the Twins 8-6 at Kauffman Stadium. Beltran ignited a four-run rally with a two-run single in the bottom of the third. He struck again with a single to score Joe Randa in the fourth, to give Kansas City a 7-3 lead. Chris George had a shaky night, allowing five runs off ten hits over five innings of work. Despite the less-than perfect night, George improved to 8-4 on the season and the Royals moved to within a game of the Twins in the A.L. Central race. The only down-note for Kansas City came in the third inning when Mike Sweeney departed with stiffness in his lower back; he’s day-to-day. Beltran’s big night will only make him more attractive as the Royals continue to look for a trade partner. The Kansas City Star is reporting that the Yankees, Mets, Orioles, Dodgers, Angels and Rangers have shown the most interest.
