Missouri State Democratic Party General Chairman Joe Carmichael is stepping down. Carmichael, a Springfield attorney, is leaving to head up a new nationwide activist group. In his new position, Carmichael will be co-chairman of Grassroots Democrats, a political organization dedicated to assisting state and local Democratic Party committees raise funds and build the infrastructure necessary to run effective campaigns.
