After all was said and done, it was a good season. If they aren’t thinking that now, the SMS Bears will in the near future. Unfortunately for them, their season came to an end with a disappointing 7-5 loss to Miami at the College World Series in Omaha. The Bears stranded seven base runners on the afternoon, as they finished 0-2 in the CWS. SMS lost 4-2 in their opener to Rice on Saturday afternoon. Trailing 6-2 in the eighth inning, it looked like they were poised for yet another thrilling comeback when Shaun Marcum belted a three-run homer to close the gap to 6-5. In the ninth, after Miami tacked on another run to make it 7-5, SMS fell flat, going down in order to end the game. The Bears went 40-26 this season and their trip to the College World Series was a first for the school.
