What the tornado didn’t finish heavy equipment will in Pierce City. The Lawrence County Commission has hired a company from Minnesota to demolish 35 badly-damaged buildings in the city business district, and haul off debris from those buildings and from other storm damage. It’s hoped work can be done in 45 days. The demolitlion and debris removal will cost the city about $354,000 – 85 percent of which will be picked up by the federal government.
