The Cardinals don’t love New York. They were swept by the Yankees this weekend with the final blow coming in a 5-2decision yesterday. Trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning, Albert Pujols hit his 18th home run of the season and Kerry Robinson drove in a run with an RBI single in the fourth tining to take a 2-1 lead. It didn’t last long. Robin Ventura drove in two with a double in the sixth inning to give the Yankees the lead back for good. Hidecki Matsui and Ruben Sierra added RBI’s in the sixth to make it 5-2. Woody Williams walked a career-high six batters to get the loss. He dropped to 8-2 on the season. Despite getting swept over the weekend, the Cardinals are just two games out of first place in the N.L. Central. The Cubs are in first place while the Astros are in second, just one game out of the top spot.
