The question of who will punt for the Chiefs in 2003 has been narrowed down. The team cut Canadian Football League veteran Noel Prefontaine yesterday, leaving John Baker and Leo Araguz to fight it out. Baker appears to be the front-runner. He punted for the 49ers and Eagles last season, posting a 38.8-yard per punt average. Dick Vermeil hopes the move will allow Prefontaine to go elsewhere before training camps start.
