Cal Eldred got the call in the ninth inning and recorded his ninth save. Steve Kline worked around a bases-loaded situation in the eighth inning to get the win in relief. Starter Woody Williams allowed five of the Red Sox runs, giving up ten hits. His ERA moved from 1.99 to 2.33. J.D. Drew hit his seventh home run of the year while Albert Pujols hit his seventeenth. The Cubs and Astros moved into a first place tie in the N.L. Central. The Cardinals are in second place and trail Chicago and Houston by a game.
