State insurance officials say we’re approaching complaint season in the state. Department spokesman Randy McConnell explains insurance companies are approaching the 55-day deadline to resolve a claim after the early-Maystorms, and that’s when people start to contact the State Insurance Department to lodge their complaints. McConnell says companies someone finds without actual face-to-face contact with an agent, such as through the Internet or toll-free telephone number, tend to generate more complaints. But McConnell does say the number of actual decisions in favor of a customer complaining about an internet or toll-free number-based company is about the same as a traditional face-to-face agent. He adds the early-May storms did about $400-Million in damages in Missouri.
