The Cardinals won an 11-10 softball game over the Orioles at Busch Stadium on Sunday. Scott Rolen hit a grand slam and Jim Edmonds hit two home runs as St. Louis finished up their longest home stand of the season with an 8-5 record. Starting pitcher Matt Morris had his shortest outing of the year, lasting five innings. In that time, he allowed seven runs off eleven hits. Jason Simontacchi came out of the bullpen to get the win in an inning of work. Cal Eldred allowed one hit and no runs over the final inning and two-thirds to pick up his seventh save of the season. The responsibility of closing games may not rest squarely on Eldred’s shoulders much longer. Jason Isringhausen will join the team for the first time the season due to off-season shoulder surgery. Joe Girardi, the Cardinals back-up catcher who has had back problems, will also re-join the team tomorrow.
