Missouri’s Purchasing Managers’ Index for May points to continued economic expansion. The state’s PMI score remained above 50 for the 16th month in a row. A score above 50 is considered by economists to be a sign of an expansionary economy. Missouri’s number for May stood at 53.6 – well ahead of the national PMI, which was 49.4. The index measures such factors as new orders, production, supplier delivery times, backlogs, inventories, prices, employment, import orders and exports.
