Revenue bills to be considered during the special session of the Senate have now been assigned to the Senate Ways and Means Committee. There had been some speculation at the Capitol that the Committee Chairman would sit on the bills and let them die without a hearing. Senate Leader Peter Kinder says that is absolutely false. He says the bills will be given a hearing early next week. As for whether any of the tax increase proposals will actually make it to the floor and win passage, Kinder thinks that is unlikely. He expects the business of the Senate during this special session to be completed late next week or early the following week.
