With the fifth pick in the first round of yesterday’s draft, the Royals took outfielder Chris Lubanski, a high school senior from Pennsylvania who hit .528 and was the national high school player of the year. The Royals second first-round pick was used to select catcher Mitchell Maier of Toledo University. The Cardinals picked 28th and took catcher Daric Barton of Marina High School of Huntingon Beach, California.
