An analysis of the state’s current budget situation indicates things might be worse than originally thought. Budget Director Linda Luebbering says the budget given to Governor Bob Holden by the Legislature is about $516-Million out of balance. Luebbering says this number is lowered somewhat by the federal windfall announced as part of the economic stimulus package, bringing the figure down to about $141-Million. Luebbering says that $140-Million excludes the cuts that are called for in the budget proposals sent to the Governor. She says if that money is taken into account, the deficit is $495-Million.
