For the second year in a row and the third time in their history, the Central Missouri State baseball team has opened the NCAA Division II World Series with two wins. Last night they defeated Franklin Pierce of New Hampshire 11-4. The Mules pounded out 16 hits, as they improved to 49-7. They’re currently ranked #1 in Division II. The victory gives Central a little time to relax because they won’t play again until Thursday. Who they’ll play is still a mystery, but when they play isn’t. It’ll be a 6:30 first pitch on Thursday night from Montgomery, Alabama. The NCAA Division-II All-American team was announced yesterday. Mules’ third baseman Zach Norman from Odessa, Missouri and first baseman Joe Strada of Gladstone, Missouri were named to the second team. Norman was the MIAA Conference’s player of the year and the Central Region’s MVP.
