Holden Sets June 2nd As Date For Special Session Of Legislature

May 23, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

Governor Bob Holden has announced he is calling the Legislature into special session on June 2nd to deal with the four budget bills he has vetoed. Earlier this week, the Governor vetoed bills dealing with the budgets of the Departments of Health, Mental Health, Social Services, Higher Education, and Education. He says he will sign the remaining budget bills and accept more than $74-Million in cuts. Holden will put together a revenue enhancement package he’ll ask the House and Senate to consider. One of the proposals of that package would see one or more tax hike initiatives put to a vote of the people.
