Governor Bob Holden’s call for the Legislature to pass a better state budget attracts some bipartisan support for a small part of it. Both political parties and Secretary of State Matt Blunt join Holden in asking the Legislature to provide money to pay for next year’s Presidential Primary. It’s to be held February 3rd. The Legislature cut out the funding for the primary but did not throw out the law providing for the election. Without state funding, counties will have to pay for the election and then seek reimbursement from the state. But the Secretary of State says the law requires the state to pay the election costs to the counties five weeks before the election.
