The state of Missouri and the National Women Business Owners Corporation have struck an agreement to use the group’s certification of women business owners in this state. Missouri is the first state in the nation to recognize the blanket certification that does away with the multiple certifications some business women owners feel are redundant. Nancy Zurbuchen, director of the Kansas City Council of Women Business Owners, says that certification is important because a certain number of state contracts is given to minorities and women. She hopes other cities and states will follow suit in recognizing the one certification.
