Royals Fall In Seattle

May 21, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

A disastrous eighth inning did in the Royals as they fell 7-4 to the Mariners. After falling in a 3-0 hole, Raul Ibanez sandwiched two solo homers around a Joe Randa’s sac-fly RBI to tie it up 3-3 with runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. The Mariners responded with four runs in the eighth off reliever D.J. Carrasco to take a 7-3 lead. Desi Relaford’s RBI double in the ninth wasn’t enough. Starter Darrell May was charged with three runs. He got the last minute start for Runelvys Hernandez who had a sore elbow. The Royals, who have lost four straight, remain a half game behind the Twins who lost to the A’s on Tuesday.
