One-run games aren’t the Cardinals specialty this year. They fell 3-2 to the Astros last night, and are 2-11 in games decided by a single tally. Garrett Stephenson allowed a two-run double to Astros starting pitcher Wade Miller in the second inning. Albert Pujols’ 12th home run of the season tied the game at two in the fourth inning. Adam Everett singled in a run in the sixth for what proved to be the game-winner. Stephenson allowed three runs off six hits and four walks, dropping to 3-3 on the season. Miller allowed three hits over seven innings to get the win. St. Louis dropped to third place in the National League Central.
