Governor Bob Holden has announced he plans to veto legislation which includes funding for the Department of Health and the Department of Mental Health. Holden says he has signed a letter notifying legislative leaders of his intention to veto the bill. He says a review of the Legislature’s budget indicated that 5,800 developmentally disabled citizens would lose services, including those with mental retardation, Down syndrome, autism and brain injury. Vetoes of other budget bills are expected later this week.
