Missouri’s business community is applauding the work of lawmakers during the just-concluded legislative session. The Missouri Chamber of Commerce is particularly pleased with legislation impacting employment. Chamber President Dan Mehan says several pieces of legislation were passed with the employment picture in mind, as the House and Senate focused on issues aimed at improving the business climate as well as the business community’s ability to create and attract jobs – something that will benefit the state’s economy. Mehan is particularly pleased with the Legislature’s rejection of Governor Bob Holden’s effort to increase taxes on employers, which Mehan claims would cost jobs. He also applauds litigation reform and reforms to the unemployment insurance system.
