Saint Louis University researchers are studying the effectiveness of new medicines aimed at treating some cases of Alzheimer’s disease. Doctor George Grossberg, Professor of Psychiatry at the University’s School of Medicine, says there are currently four medications available for Alzheimer’s sufferers and this new experimental treatment could incorporate the benefits of those medicines while supplying additional treatment. Doctor Grossberg says these other brain chemicals play a role in the depression or apathy that often accompanies Alzheimer’s disease.
