Federal Emergency Management Agency dollars for those affected by the tornadoes that blasted Missouri are already on their way to thousands of residents. FEMA says $1.8-Million in aid has been approved so far and much more will soon be on the way. Of the amount distributed, so far, about $777,000 is in housing assistance grants for homeowners or renters who need temporary shelter or need to make repairs to their homes. More than $1-Million will help residents cover other eligible disaster needs such as replacing some personal property, medical, dental, and funeral expenses. There are deadlines to file for FEMA assistance. Those living in the first round of counties designated as disaster areas must file by June 6th, while the people living in counties covererd by the next declaration have until June 11th.
