Cardinal outfielder and back up catcher Eli Marrero will be gone for at least six weeks. He’s expected to have surgery to repair torn ligaments in his right leg. Originally Marrero was believed to have a sprained ankle. The Cards will most likely bring up catcher Chris Widger from Triple-A Memphis today. Joe Girardi, who was expected to be the number two catcher has missed the entire season with a herniated disc. The Cardinals face the Reds at Busch tonight.
