Lawmakers Gear Up For Final Week Of Legislative Session

May 12, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

Time is running out in the legislative session. It wraps up on Friday and legislative leaders are hoping to get some important bills sent to Governor Holden before the session ends. House Speaker Catherine Hanaway of Warson Woods say that while lawmakers can take pride in having achieved several accomplishments as nursing home reform, there is still much more to do. Republicans control the agenda in both the Senate and House and Hanaway says the party’s important issues – workers’ compensation and litigation reform – will be a large part of the focus in the remaining days. The GOP is expressing optimism about the chances of sending a workers’ comp bill to the Governor.
