Aaron Boone’s three home runs helped do in the Cardinals as Cincinnati topped St. Louis 8-6 Thursday afternoon. Boone’s second homer of the day came in the sixth inning. It started a four run rally that erased the Cardinals 5-3 lead. Mike Crudale got the loss in relief. Two unearned runs were scored while he was on the mound. Starter Garrett Stephenson allowed five runs. The Reds took all four games of the series thanks in no small part to Boone who hit five homers during the stretch. The Cardinals now face first the place Cubs at Wrigley Field this weekend. Thanks to their four game losing streak, St. Louis trails Chicago by a game and a half.
