National Weather Service experts think the tornadoes that hit the Kansas City area last Sunday were F-4s, one notch below the top rating for tornadoes. F-4 tornadoes have winds of more than 200 miles an hour. Weather service observers think there were four tornadoes. An early damage estimate for the area is $125-Million, just in Clay and Platte Counties. Four other counties also had damage. More than 1,900 structures in the six counties were destroyed.
