Missouri’s two U.S. Senators are solidly behind an effort to establish a Renewable Fuels Standard, which would see the nation’s energy attention focused on alternative and renewable fuels such as ethanol and bio-diesel. The legislation is an amendment to the Senate Energy Bill. Senator Christopher Bond says making greater use of this kind of energy will reduce America’s dependency on foreign oil. Senator Jim Talent says putting a greater emphasis on renewable fuels will help make this country more energy self-sufficient. He adds it would create thousands of jobs in Missouri through further development of the state’s alternative fuels industry.
