Southeast Missouri gets it this time as tornadoes from Jefferson County to the bootheel leave widespread damage. But there are no reports of serious injuries. In Jefferson County, where Desoto was hard-hit last night, people had plenty of warning. Flash flooding was reported in several Jefferson County towns, including four feet of water in DeSoto and three feet of water in downtown Festus. To the south, the city of Jackson got a tornado right in the middle of it. Damage is widespread. In Jackson, heavy damage is reported at the police and fire department building, which kept emergency crews from getting onto the streets as quickly as possible. Other tornado damage is reported in Bollinger County, in southeast Missouri, where a couple of houses have been destroyed. A tornado was seen in western Missouri’s Johnson and Pettis Counties where some rural proerty damage is reported. A tornado was spotted south of Jefferson City, at Wardsville; another near Leasburg in Crawford County; and one near Robertsville in Franklin County.
