Missouri officials are asking for more federal assistance in the wake of Tuesday’s tornadies that slammed into parts of the state. Governor Bob Holden has asked President Bush to add Jefferson and Cape Girardeau Counties and nine contiguous counties to the federal disaster declaration issued for 39 counties following Sunday’s tornadoes. In Washington, Senator Christopher Bond and Senator Jim Talent have made that request, as well, saying the areas that were hit by Tuesday’s storms are in dire need of federal help.
