Much like Monday’s 5-4 loss, the Cardinals allowed three first-inning runs, battled back and lost on a 9th inning pinch-hit home run. Barry Larkin was the culprit last night, ion his return to Cincinnati’s lineup. He belted a two- run shot off Kiko Calero to down the Cards 6-5. St. Louis scored all five of its runs with homers from Edgar Renteria, Albert Pujols and J.D. Drew. Drew’s blast gave the Cards a 5-4 lead in the top of the 9th. Calero was charged with the loss. St. Louis will try to snap their two-game losing streak tonight as Jason Simontacchi and Adam Graves square off at 6:10.
