Governor Bob Holden has formally asked President Bush to declare 39 Missouri counties disaster areas, making them eligible for federal assistance. Holden points out the weekend tornado devastation caused millions of dollars in damage and resulted in 18 deaths. He’s asked the President to declare residents of 14 counties eligible for Individual Assistance and Public Assistance, which includes Disaster Housing Assistance, Crisis Counseling, and Disaster Unemployment Assistance. He expects to hear from the White House within a couple of days.
