May 2, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

Jim Edmonds extra-inning heroics prevented what could have been punch to the gut. Edmonds belted a home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Cardinals a 6-5 win. Earlier in the game, the Cards led 5-1 thanks to a two-run double from Brett Tomko and a three run-double from Scott Rolen. With the Score 5-2 in the 8th, reliever Steve Kline allowed a two-run double to former Cardinal Joe McEwing. Later in the inning Roberto Alomar drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. The game was tied until Edmonds came to bat in the 10th. Tomko Pitched well, going 6 1/3’s but got the no decision. Cal Eldred got the win in relief. The Cardinals remain a game out of first place, trailing the Cubs in the N.L. Central.
