Imagine everything else going up in cost as much as college tuition in Missouri. A state audit says tuition increases from the 1998-1999 school year, through costs this school year have gone up 37 percent. That’s more than triple the growth in personal income during that same time. The audit says the tuitions have gone up as state appropriations for higher education have declined, or been cut. The audit says Missouri spends less of its budget on higher education than any of the eight states that surround us.
