The Cardinals losing streak reached four games after last night’s 4-2 loss to the Braves. Marcus Giles and Gary Sheffield teed off on Matt Morris with back-to-back home runs in the first inning. Morris settled down allowing just three hits and no runs over the next 6 and 2/3’s innings, but the Cardinal bats were silent. Greg Maddux went seven innings giving up just three hits and no runs. Cardinal reliever Jeff Fassero gave up RBI’s to Giles and Sheffield in the eight inning to make it 4-0. Jim Edmonds homer in the 9th accounted for both St. Louis Runs. Morris dropped to 1-2. The Cardinals try to avoid their first three-game sweep of the season tonight at 6:35.
