The work of Kansas City’s cold-case squad is paying off. The new homocide unit in the Kansas City Police Department has been sifting through old murder cases for the last four months. So far, it has come up with suspects in five previously-unsolved murder cases. The prosecutor is evaluating four of the cases and has decided one suspect should not be charged. Kansas City has 858 unsolved murder cases dating to 1976.
